There are hundreds of wearable items on Chimeric, so this page doesn't seek to catalogue them all: plenty of other fansites like The Neverending Gala allow you to search up wearables and preview what they'd look like on any Form/Color combination, save and share outfits, the works! Instead, this page aims to offer a basic overview of how Wearables function for new players or those who need a bit of a refresher on the nitty-gritty.
Firstly, there are very few Wearables with mechanical effects on your pet, but they do exist! Any Wearable with the word "Brass," "Steel," "Electrum," or "Amalgam" in the name will give the respective Combat bonus to a pet wearing it, whether it be a full set of Electrum armor or a single Brass bangle. Brass items increase your pet's HP by 10%, Steel items increase damage dealt by 5%, Electrum items increase critical chance by 15% and improve droprate for rare items, and Amalgam items provide 200 max mana and improved mana regeneration of 2% a turn. A pet can only benefit from one of these Combat bonuses at a time; if your pet wears multiple of these bonus-granting items, a random one of them will be active in every round of combat while the others are disabled.
Weapons are a special category of item that can function as a Wearable if the user chooses, but don't automatically appear on the Wearables page with other clothing items. Instead, you can equip a weapon to a pet directly from your inventory or the pet's page, and then on the pet's customization page you can choose "Present in pose" for the pet's weapon. Your pet can use a weapon's skills and combat bonuses even if it's not visible on the pet's customization, but can't have one weapon just for combat and one just for looks; if you want your pet to pose with a sword Wearable, for instance, they have to actually have that sword equipped for combat. There's been oodles of forum discourse about whether weapons count as *real* Wearables since they're not on the Wearable tab or sold in the clothing shops, as well as spirited debates over whether one should pick weapons for their utility in combat or aesthetic appeal, or if the Chimeric developers should re-work the weapon system entirely. On the Wearables & Customization topic, all discussion of weapons is quarantined to "The Weapons Thread" on threat of 5-day forum suspension.
While no other Wearables have intrinsic effects, they're often in high demand in the player economy due to the extensive material, time, and Crafting skill requirements necessary to make even a single simple Wearable. While some Wearables can be crafted by any pet with the required Crafting skill and materials, most require a corresponding Pattern item in the inventory first; most Patterns are available mainly though Random Events, though a few can be won from the top-scorers in PVP every week, and several NPCs sell patterns for their personal outfit items. Luckily there's a strong culture of Pattern-lending on the Forums, so even extremely rare patterns are just a few clicks away!
