Celebrations are the best! They're site-wide events where players can get special items just for doing their normal site activities, the whole layout & music of Chimeric is overhauled, and special Celebration-specific minigames / quests / stories are usually available for players to participate in. There's a few randomly recurring or rotating Celebrations, and there have been a couple one-off Celebrations tied to Chimeric's plot or lore, but most occur yearly at the same time. If you miss a Celebration it's alright, everything will come back around the next year!
Starting with the Chimeric's New Year Celebration, one of the most exhilerating and exuberant of site holidays is Highsun. This Celebration focuses on making the most of the longest day of the year, basking in the light from sun-up to sundown. The solstice is often enjoyed with hot food like fried breads and additional sources of light like lanterns and bonfires, bolstering the overwhelming heat of the day and bringing in the New Year with a bang. The effect of a Radiant Candle is considered active for all players throughout the Celebration, and any active candles players have won't be used up throughout the week. Magma spells and enemies are more powerful during Highsummer, and a unique Magma enemy with wings of fire (which seems to be a reference to various mythological birds like the Phoenix and Simurgh) called the Apex Avian can be found in higher-level arenas. She gives powerful rewards when defeated
A while after Highsun, as the energy of the New Year begins to wane, many a young heart finds distraction and energy in Petalfall. Petalfall is all about finding the joy in the chaos of transition, even as the days grow shorter and the plants start to wither. Players are encouraged to collect a variety of leaf and flower-themed items, from dying flowers to the first leaves changing color with the change of seasons. Collectible Flowerbooks are usually much more accessible for players during this event, with some Flowerbooks being exclusive to the celebration, so it's a great time to work on your collection if you haven't completed it already! If you have completed your Flowerbook collection, it may be the perfect opportunity to give a Flowerbook or two (or ten!) to your sweetheart; there's a tradition among players to give them as tokens of affection to bouy the spirits of their favorite people come Petalfall.
To commemorate the harvests, residents of Everywhere come together to partake in Chromacloak. It's a Celebration themed around the many colors of Chimeric, all the beautiful fruits and vegetables, dyes and paints, and of course the many colorful creatures this world has to offer. Players can "harvest" the colors from certain items (leaving behind unique grayscale equivalents of the base item!) to create Color Essences, a special Magic Item which can only be obtained during this Celebration. Players can use Color Essences to change the colors of things across the site that usually can't have their color changed at all; the sclera of a pet's eye, Brass/Steel/Electrum/Amalgam Wearables, even UI elements of the Chimeric site can be dyed! The color change will remain indefinitely unless the player visits the Beach at the Edge of Everywhere and chooses to submerge an item or clear all UI changes. Color Essences can also be used to create Chromacloaks, wearables which can be customzed down to the pixel with custom art--as long as it's approved by a moderator. Since Color Essences are so incredibly useful, Chromacloak is one of the biggest site events of the year, and players will often stockpile anything which can be harvested for color through the weeks leading up to the Celebration in gleeful anticipation.
To prepare for the dark and cold after harvest, Clamorcall is a Celebration traditionally uplifting communty and custom. It's the time of year that the Chimeric devs spotlight the amazing player-run art and music showcase, with some especially lucky works being added to the game's official content. Players also show off custom collections, writing, headcanons & theories, even custom minigames, to the point that the Clamorcall-specific Forums are often split into dozens of sub-sections to keep any one topic from getting too hectic. This is also the Celebration where the Chimeric devs like to release new Collections and little quests for players to keep them entertained for a while, and to add their own content to the mountains of fanwork. Plenty of fans have developed their own Clamorcall traditions to inspire luck, fit into onsite lore, or just make friends lack, with common customs including only feeding one's pets eggs and milk products for the duration of the Celebration, redoing existing customizations to help a pet "gear up" for adventure, or giving away valuables to new & inexperienced players.
As the weather gets colder and the rivers begin to ice over, residents of Everywhere honor the water for all it's done for them before it rests for a while. The Celebration of Frigidrivers involves icefishing, communal (heated, indoors!) baths, sharing hot drinks, and offering up small gifts like old clothes or small pieces of food to the ocean. The Fishing minigame is reworked for the duration of Frigidrivers, much to the delight of players everywhere, so it's a much simpler ice-fishing game where you just need to click holes in the ice when a timer shows you've gotten a bite; it's possble to get far more rewards from this version of the minigame, including Frigidrivers-specific loot like the Slush Staff and the Ancient Deep-Dweller.
The dead of winter is the perfect time for The Star Rise Festival, the SRF for short, a Celebration to mark the halfway point of the year. Food and drink from the course of the year so far are brought out to create amazing spreads, with plates piled high on every table, and the denizens of Everywhere (at least the NPCs and most fashionable pets) all wear their fanciest, most regal attire. Additional NPCs show up every SRF, with some staying the same and others rotating out each year; they offer special seasonal minigames like snow decorating, snack stacking, and doll customization, as well as giving trades or mini-quests for their outfit designs. Thanks to blackpowder offered by one of these NPCs, a shrouded Eegee named Brimn, players can craft unique magic items called Flamebursts throughout the SRF, which set off a bright flash of color in the sky of Everywhere. All players online can see a Flameburst when it's set off, provided the page they're on has a view of the sky; if you combine several basic Flamebursts effectively you can make them spell out messages, create images, or even play (VERY pricy) short animations! If you're set on creating a Flameburst display, it's highly recommended you coordinate with fellow players on the Flameburst Forum topic so you don't end up interrupting somebody else's show. After the Celebration is over Flamebursts can't be crafted or used until next year's SRF, although technically you can still set one off in Combat as an explosive consumable.
To welcome warmer weather, Wildflight allows folks to cut lose and go... well, wild! Music, dancing, and performing happen throughout the day and night, often to excess--possibly because several NPCs provide free drinks to mark the occasion! Friendly competition is common around Wildflight, with minigame gauntlets and speedruns, custom challenges, and players comparing who's made the most impressive accomplishments since Wildflight last year. Traditionally, the winner of a competition gives a drink to the loser; this can lead to chaos when a competition has multiple winners in different categories, or one winner and hundreds of "losers," or tiers of success, so in the end players often just end up sending out batches of home-made beers, spiced ciders, and mulled wines basically at random. The Celebration is marked by distinctive lanterns and hot air balloons with leaf & vine motifs, set up into the mornings and evenings to herald the arrival of brighter skies soon.
The final Celebration of Everywhere's year, as the days begin to grow longer and hotter before Highsun, is Spirit's Rest. This Celebration pays respect to all that have passed away over the year; from the greatest and most tragic loss down to the prey butchered to feed the beings of Everywhere, a moment's pause is taken. Players often make the favorite snacks of deceased loved ones to share with others, or share stories about them on the forums. It can be a somewhat somber time, but it's also got quite a lot of fun and excitement just like the other Celebrations! There's all sorts of spiritual and spooky clothing items released around the Celebration, and pets can find "warm cookies" while Gathering which completely heal them and restore their mood to Content. Bone Dust (and subsequently the Reanimated color) was released in the first Spirit's Rest, and every year it's possible to get a few more by participating in ceremonies held by NPCs at particular times.
